"Magnets" attracting tourists

30/05/2025

In the series of events "Ha Nam Culture - Tourism Week 2025", the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club to organize a program to survey and introduce Ha Nam tourism products; the conference "Ha Nam - Connecting and spreading" was also held.

The survey delegation with the participation of about 200 travel and tourism service businesses who are members of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, tourism promotion information centers of Ha Nam, Bac Giang, Ninh Binh, and media agencies visited and surveyed a number of emerging tourist destinations in Ha Nam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tai, Director of Vietsense Travel, there is great potential in developing local tourism. If in the past, tourists knew Ha Nam through spiritual tourism, now Ha Nam has three tourism trends that are very popular with tourists, which are resort tourism, check-in tourism and conference-seminar tourism. With destinations invested in scale and quality, these are the three "magnets" that attract tourists, especially tourists from Hanoi to Ha Nam during weekends or festival seasons.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen, Director of Ha Nam Province Tourism Promotion Center, said that Famtrip's survey and introduction of Ha Nam tourism products in 2025 is a practical activity aimed at promoting typical destinations, unique tourism products and competitive advantages of Ha Nam province, thereby enhancing the recognition of Ha Nam tourism brand on the national and regional tourism map.

The event also aims to create a forum for connecting, exchanging and cooperating in development between tourism businesses inside and outside the province; promoting the development of new products, developing routes, expanding the tourist market, especially the high-quality domestic tourist market and potential international tourists. From there, it creates a basis for proposing investment orientations, perfecting products, improving service quality and competitiveness of Ha Nam destinations.

At the seminar, delegates who are experts and travel businesses contributed and proposed many ideas and solutions to maximize the tourism potential of Tam Chuc Tourist Area, such as: focusing on product promotion, having a proactive strategy to approach customers, especially through digital media channels; developing more potential tourism products such as river tourism, cycling, etc.; enhancing the exploitation of folk cultural values, cuisine, craft villages, etc. to enrich the experience of tourists.

In order to introduce the potential, strengths and investment opportunities in the tourism sector in Ha Nam province, also on the morning of May 30, the People's Committee of Ha Nam province organized the Conference on promoting investment and developing tourism in Ha Nam province in 2025 with the theme "Ha Nam - Connecting and spreading".

Overview of the conference "Ha Nam - Connecting and spreading"

Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province, emphasized the great potential for tourism development of the three provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh thanks to their strategic geographical location, rich natural resources, culture, and dense heritage system. However, Mr. Manh frankly acknowledged that regional tourism still has many limitations, with unsynchronized connecting infrastructure, duplicated products, lack of depth, lack of high-end services, and limited quality human resources.

"Ha Nam lacks a service ecosystem around major destinations such as Tam Chuc; Nam Dinh lacks accommodation facilities and a clear product orientation; Ninh Binh is under pressure from overload and lacks high-end resort products. Therefore, for sustainable development, it is necessary to build a common regional tourism brand, connecting typical destinations to form four-season tourism products. At the same time, it is necessary to plan a linked tourism space: Ha Nam with Tam Chuc, Nam Dinh with a cultural and marine axis, Ninh Binh with Trang An as a customer distribution center."

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, commented that Ha Nam is emerging as one of the typical tourist destinations, clearly demonstrating the desire for development and efforts to catch up with the modern development trends of dynamic localities across the country. According to Mr. Thien, Ha Nam's current development approach has changed significantly compared to the past. Although it is a small province, Ha Nam has proactively created a development momentum, established its own strengths with synchronous strategies, thereby building a significant foundation for growth.

“Ha Nam is gradually transforming its image from a poor province to a rich one, from a “sacred forest and poisonous water” region to a fertile land - clear evidence is the formation and development of Tam Chuc Tourist Area, along with the appearance of two modern, international-class hospitals. This is a typical example of creating competitive advantages from initial disadvantages,” Mr. Thien commented.

Within the framework of the conference, a signing ceremony of cooperation took place between Ha Nam province and partners representing enterprises and investors; a signing ceremony of cooperation agreement on tourism development between the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Departments of Tourism: Ha Nam, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Quang Binh, Bac Giang... These cooperation agreements will be a strong step forward in developing and connecting tours and routes between localities in the future.

Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province affirmed that Ha Nam will focus on directing 5 key tasks to develop sustainable tourism. "The province will complete important plans, especially the master plan for tourism and Tam Chuc National Tourist Area; orient the linkage between Ha Nam - Nam Dinh - Ninh Binh regions; build mechanisms to encourage investment and develop products with unique identities. Ha Nam province also prioritizes the development of tourism human resources, market research for effective promotion, while promoting the application of technology, digital transformation in management and promotion. With the support of businesses and the government, Ha Nam expects to become an ideal destination and an attractive investment destination in the coming time.
