Four key strategies for Ha Nam tourism to take off

Ms. Phan Linh Chi, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, has proposed four important strategic orientations for tourism development in Ha Nam province.

At the Conference on Promoting Tourism Development Investment in 2025 with the theme: Ha Nam - Connecting and spreading held on May 30, Ms. Phan Linh Chi, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that Ha Nam is a locality with many potentials: Tam Chuc Lake, Doi Lagoon, Luon Cave, natural mountains and forests; to outstanding historical and cultural relics such as Ba Danh Pagoda, Truc Temple - Ngu Dong Son, unique folk festivals and traditional craft villages such as Nha Xa silk weaving village, Doi Tam drum village... This is a solid foundation for the province to develop typical tourism products - especially cultural, spiritual, resort and community experience tourism.

Not only that, Ha Nam is located on the North-South traffic artery, close to major centers such as Hanoi and Ninh Binh, creating a great advantage in connecting tours, routes and customer markets. This makes Ha Nam not only a potential destination but also able to spread positive effects to the development of tourism in the entire Red River Delta and the Capital region.

To effectively exploit the above potentials and realize the theme "Connect and spread", Ms. Phan Linh Chi has proposed 4 important strategic orientations.

Firstly, promote investment attraction and tourism infrastructure development. Ha Nam needs to have appropriate incentive policies to encourage domestic and foreign investors to participate in developing a synchronous and modern tourism infrastructure system. Prioritize attracting investment in high-quality hotel, resort, conference center, and entertainment projects, associated with nature conservation and sustainable development. At the same time, facilitate administrative procedures, land access, and planning information to increase attractiveness and reduce risks for investors.

Second, developing high-quality tourism human resources: focusing on building a strategy for training and fostering tourism human resources at all levels, from management to tour guides and service staff - this is a key factor determining the quality of tourism products and services. In particular, it is necessary to promote links between training institutions and tourism businesses, focus on training linked to practice, encourage investment in improving human resources capacity, developing digital skills, foreign languages ​​and international communication skills.

Third, strengthen inter-regional connectivity: Promote the connection between Ha Nam and neighboring provinces, forming a complete tourism chain. Ha Nam is located near Hanoi and Ninh Binh - two major tourist centers - very convenient for connecting tours Hanoi - Ha Nam - Ninh Binh with themes such as "Returning to the sacred land", "Green tourism and heritage", "Spiritual journey"...

Fourth, strengthen tourism promotion and advertising in a professional and modern direction: It is necessary to promote the application of digital technology, online platforms and multimedia communications to effectively promote images, products and tourist destinations, especially for the international tourist market. In particular, it is necessary to build communication campaigns for each target market, associated with major events and MICE tourism trends, resort tourism, green tourism. In addition, localities need to actively coordinate with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to participate in tourism promotion activities abroad, in order to expand the market and attract more international tourists.

Attractive destination for investors

At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province shared that Ha Nam province is located in a strategic position - the southern gateway of the capital Hanoi. This place possesses a convenient tourist space, adjacent to major tourist centers such as Huong Pagoda, Trang An - Bai Dinh, Pho Hien, Tran Temple... At the same time, it is also located on the trans-Vietnam tourist route, with many advantages for developing inter-regional tourism types. With a favorable location, synchronous traffic infrastructure, and rich resources, Ha Nam is increasingly affirming its position as an attractive destination for investors.

In recent years, the province has focused on comprehensive development, prioritizing investment attraction in key areas such as industry, trade, services, high-tech agriculture and sustainable tourism. Ha Nam identifies tourism as an important economic sector with strong spillover potential, creating a driving force to promote the development of many other sectors.

The whole Ha Nam province currently has over 200 accommodation establishments with more than 4,000 rooms, including 2 5-star hotels and a high-class hotel of BRG Group which is being completed. Tam Chuc tourist area has been approved by the Prime Minister to be a national tourist area, and is attracting domestic and foreign tourists. In addition, Ha Nam has 12 recognized tourist destinations, contributing to the formation of an increasingly diverse tourism product ecosystem. In recent years, Ha Nam has developed many typical tourism products such as: Cultural - spiritual tourism with highlights: Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ba Danh Pagoda, Long Doi Son Pagoda, Tran Thuong Temple, Lanh Giang Temple... and special festivals such as: Tich Dien Festival, Duc Thanh Tran Temple's salary distribution ceremony, Tam Chuc Spring Festival...; Rural tourism associated with traditional craft villages such as: Dai Hoang braised fish village, Doi Tam drum village, Nha Xa silk village...; Urban tourism, entertainment with new products and services such as walking street, Flamingo Golden Hill, Sun World Ha Nam - notably Ha Nam Water Park and art and water music programs at Sun Urban City.

According to the plan, Ha Nam will have 4 golf courses, of which 02 golf courses have officially come into operation (Stone Valley Golf Resort and Legend Valley Country Club), making sports tourism, especially golf tourism, a new, high-class product, attracting high-class domestic and international visitors. In the coming time, Ha Nam will continue to orient the development of rural tourism, based on the effective exploitation of traditional cultural values ​​and typical landscapes of the Northern countryside. Thereby contributing to the shift of economic structure from agriculture to services, creating local jobs, improving income and quality of life for people.

In 2024, Ha Nam welcomed more than 4.7 million visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching nearly 3,700 billion VND. In the first 5 months of 2025, it continued to welcome nearly 6 million visitors, with revenue reaching nearly 4,500 billion VND. These figures clearly demonstrate the potential and strong resilience of Ha Nam tourism, contributing positively to the province's socio-economic growth, creating a spillover effect to many other areas.

In particular, for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024), Ha Nam was honored by the World Travel Awards with the titles: "World's Leading Local Cultural Destination", "Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination" and was awarded the Special Achievement Award. This is a worthy recognition for the tireless efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Ha Nam, and is also a strong motivation for the province to continue to maximize its potential, strengths and resources to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, making Ha Nam a civilized, friendly, high-quality destination, with unique tourism products and unique identities.
