Within the framework of the activities of the Ha Nam Culture and Tourism Week 2025; towards the 110th anniversary of the birth of writer and martyr Nam Cao (October 29, 1915 - October 29, 2025), on the morning of June 20, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH,TT&DL) coordinated with the Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism (VH,NT,TT&DL); Ly Nhan District People's Committee organized a scientific workshop "Promoting the value of cultural heritage in the hometown of writer Nam Cao associated with sustainable tourism development". Attending the workshop were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission, the Department of Industry and Trade, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Ly Nhan District People's Committee, Hoa Hau Commune People's Committee and managers, researchers, lecturers of departments, institutes, universities, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, etc.

Writer Nam Cao's real name is Tran Huu Tri, born on October 29, 1915 in Dai Hoang village, Cao Da commune, Nam Xang district, Ly Nhan prefecture (now Hoa Hau commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province). He was not only a talented writer but also a staunch revolutionary soldier, posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for literature and art by the State (1996). Works such as: Chi Pheo, Song mon, Doi mat, Nua dem... not only sharply reflect social reality but also vividly portray cultural memories of the countryside - forming a unique image of Hoa Hau in the minds of many generations of readers at home and abroad.

After many ups and downs, Nam Cao's hometown (Hoa Hau commune, Ly Nhan district) is gradually becoming a vibrant cultural heritage space. From the Tomb and Memorial Site ranked as a National Monument to Dai Hoang fish sauce village with a system of traditional festivals and unique folk customs... all have contributed to forming a multi-layered cultural heritage ecosystem that both preserves traditional identity and expands creativity in the modern context. The workshop aims to concretize the Party and State's policies and guidelines on sustainable cultural and tourism development, affirm the literary, historical and cultural values ​​of Nam Cao, and at the same time assess the current status of heritage conservation in the locality, thereby proposing appropriate models, products and policies to effectively promote heritage values ​​for tourism development.

The workshop attracted more than 50 presentations from experts, researchers and managers across the country. The workshop focused on three main groups of topics: Literary values ​​of Writer Nam Cao; Cultural space - heritage in Nam Cao's homeland; cultural - literary tourism and sustainable development. The workshop was organized through two main working sessions. Thematic session 1: Current status of protecting and promoting cultural heritage values ​​in Writer Nam Cao's homeland associated with tourism development, including general reports on the system of local tangible and intangible cultural heritage, ideological and artistic values ​​in Writer Nam Cao's works, current status of heritage exploitation and management associated with tourism development. Thematic session 2: Solutions to protect and promote cultural heritage values ​​in Writer Nam Cao's homeland associated with sustainable tourism development focusing on creative tourism models; Policy on linking the state, businesses, and communities, applying technology, improving the quality of human resources, and attracting investment for heritage tourism.

The workshop contributed to spreading new awareness about the role of cultural heritage in local sustainable development; connecting researchers, managers, businesses and the community, thereby activating endogenous motivations from heritage resources. The honoring of martyr writer Nam Cao is not only a meaningful event for the culture of Ha Nam province, but also an opportunity to affirm the position of Vietnamese cultural heritage in the flow of global integration. The workshop aimed to have more practical, creative and effective solutions to make Nam Cao cultural heritage an important resource serving the sustainable development of Hoa Hau hometown, Ly Nhan district.
